Not everyone is ready to be tutored using the Barton System. New students must:

  • struggle with spelling when writing.

  • struggle to easily sound out unknown words when reading.

  • be at least 5 years old and in kindergarten.

  • speak and comprehend spoken English.

  • pass a student screening.

Requirements for online instruction

  • a quiet, distraction free area of your home

  • a computer with a webcam (no chromebooks, tablets, or iPads unfortunately)

  • a secure, high-speed internet connection

  • a headset with both a microphone and earphones

  • zoom app (free version) installed on your computer desktop
